Caterina Gutierrez uses textiles, glitter, and sarcasm to embrace the often ridiculous stereotypes placed upon her people. Incorporating classical icons, symbols, and loads of sequins, Gutierrez' work maintains an abuelita approved purity while still fitting the needs of the late NYC Club Kid aesthetic...if they were all brown. Describing herself as a 'glam-rock drag queen stuck in a chola's body', she can promise you that while she's never really sure what she's doing, she's having a fun time doing it.
Born in San Antonio, TX in 1991, Gutierrez returned to her hometown after receiving a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University's esteemed Fiber Science Apparel Design program in 2014. She was named Best Local Designer in the San Antonio Current’s Best of SA list 2016 & 2017. Gutierrez recently served as the Fashion Design Instructor at Brackenridge High School in San Antonio. Her design skills, experience in arts and and graphic design, and humble personality leave jaws open and a trail of glitter everywhere she goes.
'Screw it. Put some more glitter on it, and hand me a beer. but remember, this one's my last. I got church in la mañana.
